Externally-Led PFDD Meeting
Externally-Led Patient-Focused Drug Development (EL-PFDD)
Elevating the Patient Voice to Shape the Future of Treatment
The HypoPARAthyroidism Association is proud to have hosted an Externally-Led Patient-Focused Drug Development (EL-PFDD) Meeting, an important milestone in ensuring that the voices of people living with hypoPARA help shape the future of research, clinical care, and therapeutic development. An EL-PFDD meeting is part of the FDA’s Patient-Focused Drug Development initiative. While the meeting is organized by a patient advocacy organization, it follows an FDA-developed framework designed to systematically capture what matters most to patients. These meetings provide an opportunity for patients, caregivers, researchers, healthcare professionals, industry, and FDA representatives to hear firsthand about the real-world impact of living with a disease, including the symptoms that matter most, the challenges of daily life, experiences with current treatments, and the outcomes patients hope future therapies will achieve. The insights gathered help inform drug development, clinical trial design, and regulatory decision-making.
