WHAT IS COVERED?
The Assistance Fund's (TAF's) Hypoparathyroidism Financial Assistance Program provides eligible
individuals with coverage for out-of-pocket expenses related to hypoparathyroidism. Covered expenses
include prescription drug assistance on all FDA-approved treatment for hypoparathyroidism, health
insurance premiums, therapy administration costs, and treatment-related ground travel costs. There is no
cap on the amount of assistance a patient receives in a calendar year after they are approved and enrolled
in a TAF disease program.
NO CAPS; YEAR-ROUND COVERAGE
We carefully review and allocate our funds to ensure that no patient
loses coverage during the year. Once patients enroll in a disease
program, their coverage lasts the entire calendar year. Since 2009,
The Assistance Fund has provided patients with more than $2 billion
in assistance.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR ASSISTANCE?
U.S. residents who have been diagnosed with hypoparathyroidism
may apply for financial assistance for out-of-pocket costs for all
prescribed FDA-approved treatment for hypoparathyroidism, such
as copays, health insurance premiums, and incidental medical
expenses. TAF will verify the applicant’s financial need and that they
are not receiving copay assistance from another 501(c)(3)
organization.
HOW CAN PATIENTS APPLY FOR ASSISTANCE?
To determine eligibility for financial assistance, patients should
complete an application at tafcares.org or call (844) 933-5016 to
speak with a Patient Advocate. Our best-in-class Patient Advocates
handled 115,000 calls last year.
